Verso: Inscription on back says: 'It came to me from my father Hugh of Woodhall Spa, on his death in 1961. He had it from Vivian Gunyon who got it from his uncle William, the compiler of the pedigree and who says on page 45 that he has such a portrait in his possession. It was in very bad condition and was restored by Reeve of Bond Street in 1961, moved to Switzerland, where it now is. 4th November 1971 Blue Moon, Glutieres-sur-Ollon.' Signed Geoffrey Myddelton.
