Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Salome with the Head of John the Baptist by Frances Mostyn Owen, Mrs Myddelton Biddulph (Woodhouse 1807 - Chirk 1887), after possibly Giovanni Andrea Sirani (Bologna 1610-1670), when it was in the collection of John Mytton at Halston Hall, Shropshire, derived from Guido Reni's three-quarter length depiction of the subject in the Palazzo Corsini in Rome.
Provenance
Amongst chattels previously on loan to the National Trust from the Myddelton family. These chattels were purchased on behalf of the National Trust in the Christie's auction at Chirk on 21st June 2004.
