Water cart, wooden painted blue and maroon, used to collect night soil from cottages, marked FRANK K BIRD and CO, REGENTS PARK, 1857. It has a metal tanked body which can be tipped up for emptying using a geared winch to drive an oak axle and its attendant chain. The manufacturers were Frank Bird and Co (iron and brass founders, agricultural and horticultural implement manufacturers).
