The sitter was the third son of Henry Lascelles, 2nd Earl of Harewood (1767-1841). He married Lady Caroline Howard, daughter of George Howard, 6th Earl of Carlisle (1773-1848), niece of William Cavendish, 6th Duke of Devonshire (1790-1858).

H was the third son of Henry Lascelles, 2nd Earl of Harewood (1767-1841); married Lady Caroline Howard, daughter of George Howard, 6th Earl of Carlisle (1773-1848), niece of William Cavendish, 6th Duke of Devonshire (1790-1858).
