Summary

An oblong Japanese lacquer box, or casket, the top and sides decorated with birds and formal foliage in mother of pearl and brown on a green and black ground; presented by the Prime Minister of Japan Shigem Yoshida (1946-7 and 1948-54) on Sir Winston's 90th birthday.
