Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Sir John Curzon, 3rd Bt, MP (1674-1727), studio of Sir Godfrey Kneller (Lübeck 1646/9 - London 1723). A three-quarter-length portrait, standing, his head inclined slightly to the left, gazing at the spectator, his left hand on his hip just above his sword handle, his right hand leaning on a table on the left, wearing a white wig, white shirt, and white stock, long waistcoat and jacket. Sir John Curzon was the eldest son of Sir Nathaniel Curzon, 2nd Bt, and Sarah Penn. He died unmarried, and was succeeded by his brother Nathaniel. He was MP for Derbyshire 1701 27. A firm Tory, he voted against the Administration in every recorded division after 1715.

Bought with part of the contents of Kedleston with the aid of the National Heritage Memorial Fund in 1987 when the house and park were given to the National Trust by Francis Curzon, 3rd Viscount Scarsdale (1924-2000)
