Summary
A silver casket on a wooden base presented by the Municipality of Mussoorie. The rectangular casket depicts a procession of a deity in relief. The lid has a series of repoussé Hindu deities and an inscription. 'A partly gilt silver casket, containing an address from the Municipality of Mussoorie - United Provinces' (Christie's entry)
Provenance
Purchased in 1986 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund from Francis Curzon, 3rd Viscount Scarsdale (1924-2000). Gifted to the National Trust in 1987 by the National Heritage Memorial Fund.

PRESENTED WITH AN ADDRESS TO HIS EXCELLENCY LORD CURZON OF VICEROY OF INDIA BY THE MUSSOORIE MUNICIPALITY 1ST MAY 1902. Inside the lid of the casket there is a manufacturers seal that reads; BY SPECIAL APPOINTMENT P. ORR (ampersand) SONS GOLDSMITHS (ampersand) SILVERSMITHS MADRAS (ampersand) RANGOON
