Summary
Oil painting on panel, Mary Bunn, Mrs John Opie, by John Opie, RA (St Agnes 1761 - London 1807), circa 1782. A bust portrait of the artist's first wife, looking to the left with a small blue scarf around her neck and a blue ribbon with a pearl in her hair. They married in St Martins-in-the-Fields, London on 4th December 1782 but she had left him by 20th May 1795 with a Major Edwards, who she married after the mariage with Opies was dissolved by Act Of Parliament in 1796. Bust, a quarter size, ^ face to left, a dark-eyed beauty, light brown flowing hair, light blue neckerchief, blue bow and pearl pendant over forehead ; white muslin dress, red cloak.

given by the artist to John Penwarne Junior; given by his grandson, the Rev. Edward Penwarne Wellings to Mr. H. Mallaby Firth; thence by inheritance until accepted by HM Treasury in lieu of Inheritance Tax and allocated to the National Trust, Bradley Manor, 2002
