Summary
Large carved oak press cupboard, mid-17th century; upper stage of two doors alternating with three fixed panels divided by applied split-turning; the doors with a central inlaid rosette, the fixed panels with a carved and inlaid lozenge in the Yorkshire manner; canopied frieze of carved rosettes supported on bulbous cup-and-cover balusters; lower stage of two wide doors between pairs of fixed panels; the doors with a rosette frieze in a long upper panel over two short panels with a lozenge-centred floral motif, matched in the fixed panels either side; the top-rail and end posts carved with billeting and inlaid with bog oak and chestnut parquetry stringing; the bottom rail nulled. Originally surmounted by a third tier with canopy resting on two turned posts and a back-board.
