Summary
Pedestal table, coromandel wood veneer and carved coromandel. Lacquered brass mounts. An engraving on paper, under the glass, inset in the top. The triangular pedestal has a large female mask with fruit and foliage swags at each corner, between which are lion masks and laurel sprays, all in brass. The triangular base is edged with a broad brass bead of foliage and flowers and stands on three heavy carved lions paw feet, embellished with scrolls acanthus. The engraving has a central roundel within a wreath depicting the Duke of Wellington and his officers on horseback trampling their enemies underfoot. Winged Victory prepared to crown him with a laurel wreath. Encircling this centre piece is a ring of inscriptions commemorating the Duke's victories and below and outsde each the appropriate scene is depicted.
