Summary
Boer War chocolate box. Kipling visited South Africa annually from 1900 to 1908, staying with diamond magnate Cecil Rhodes. This chocolate box, commissioned by Queen Victoria to boost morale in the Boer War, was likely acquired on one of his trips. Cadbury, a Quaker company opposed to the war, made the chocolates but omitted its brand from the box.
