Oil painting on canvas, Henry Arthur Hoare (1804-1873) by Richard Augustus Clack (Devon c.1804 – Exeter 1881), signed and dated: R.A.Clack, 1870. The portrait shows Henry Arthur Hoare of Wavendon with a white beard and hair. He is standing, three-quarter length in a landscape in front of a classical column looking slightly towards the right. He is accompanied by a dog, a Norwich terrier, to his right, sitting on a wall in the left foreground for which he paid the artist extra for its inclusion.

By descent to the sitter's son; given to the National Trust along with the house, its grounds, and the rest of the contents by Sir Henry Hugh Arthur Hoare, 6th Bt (1865 – 1947) in 1946
