Watercolour (some varnish, bottom left), on four joined sheets of paper, View of Civita Castellana, by Abraham Louis Ducros (Yverdon, Switzerland 1748 – Lausanne 1810), circa 1786. There are two watercolours of similar views in the Musée Cantonal des Beaux Arts, Lausanne. A smaller variant, in watercolour over an etched outline, was bought by William Constable of Burton Constable from the artist in 1785, and remained in family possession until sold at Sotheby's, 25-26 November 1987, lot 547.
