Summary
A cardboard record sleeve for the vinyl record 'Papa's Got A Brand New' bag by James Brown and The Famous Flames. The front of the sleeve is blue with four colour images of James Brown, all within star shapes running diagonally across the sleeve from top left to bottom right. ‘JAMES BROWN and the FAMOUS FLAMES’ is printed in red lettering in the bottom left corner and ‘papa’s got a brand new bag’ is printed towards the top right corner in orange lettering. In the top right corner there are logos for the London record label and for King Records. The rear of the sleeve is white with the song titles for each side of the record are printed in the centre in black with details of the songs author next to each title. The records title is printed to the left of the song titles and the artists name is printed below them, both in black lettering. There are logos for the London record label and King Records in the bottom left corner and the catalogue number for the record (HA 8262) is printed in the top right corner, with ‘MONO’ printed immediately above it in black.
Provenance
Cardboard sleeve for a vinyl record, Papa's Got A Brand New Bag by James Brown and The Famous Flames, released on the London Records label in 1966. Purchased by the National Trust Museum of Childhood via Discogs on 31st August 2020 as part of the Collecting Cultures 'Exploring Childhoods' project.
