Summary
An 18th century adult's waistcoat with a cream silk front and a cream linen back. The front is embroidered with flowers, leaves and butterflies in coloured silk threads. The two shaped pocket flaps are also embroidered. The pocket flaps and the front edges of the waistcoat are trimmed with bronze coloured sequins threaded with coiled metal thread. The sequins and metal thread are also sewn in diagonal lines across the front of the waistcoat and sequins and embroidery decorate the mandarin collar. There are ten silk covered buttons embroidered with flowers. On the reverse of the waistcoat are three pairs of linen tape ties. One pair are tied in a bow. The silk at the bottom edge of the front of the waistcoat is shattering.
