Summary
Mahogany wheel barometer of banjo form, c.1800, with silvered dials, thermometer and spirit level inscribed ‘Dr Rumney, Keswick’; fine-grained mahogany case with boxwood stringing, waisted above and below barometer dial; scrolled swan-neck pediment with brass finial; small hygrometer dial in brass bezel at the top; long drop alcohol thermometer in the tapered neck; wheel barometer dial with engraved gradations and weather indicators, blued steel hand and brass bezel; turned boxwood set knob; inscribed spirit level in circular brass bezel in the base; cavetto moulding at the foot.
