Summary
Earthenware serving dish with unevenly scalloped rim, ca 1901-1912; transfer printed under the glaze in blue with a border pattern of cross hatches and dart shaped pendants, with two asymmetric floral and foliage sprays issuing from arrangements of rococo 'C' scrolls from the rim to well, with a third large spray of roses and foliage spreading across the well and into the centre of the plate; printed on the underside of the base with the mark of James Kent (Ltd), of Longton, Staffordshire (a crowned shield bearing initials 'J.K.L.'); printed with the pattern name 'YORK' and impressed '16' for the size or pattern number of the dish.
