Summary
A walnut cassone, Italian, first half of the 17th century. The hinged plank lid above a panelled front with scroll carved caryatids to the corners and raised on later lion's paw feet, iron handles to the sides.
Provenance
Bequest to the National Trust of tapestries, pictures, furniture and objects d'art from Sir Malcolm Stewart in 1960.
