Summary
A walnut and cane high-back open armchair, English, circa 1690. The back with caned panel within a pierced foliate frame and below a crest carved with opposing swans and flanked by baluster posts with finials, the caned seat raised on scroll legs with matching swan-carved stretcher and multiple turned stretchers. It is most unusual to find a swan carved to the crest and the matching front stretcher of a caned chair.
