Summary
An 18thC. carved lace box with inlaid lid. Lid with central inlaid stellar design, surrounded by inlaid circle and inlaid oval, with round curls. Linear inlay around perimeter with curls at corners. Astragal and cavetto moulding along edges of lid. Holes for lock and/or handle plugged on lid. Three panels of base carved with foliated scrolls and flower heads. The whole on a fluted plinth. Lid with wrought iron replaced hinges. Lock missing from base. Lid is not the original to the base. Fragment of gilt stored inside, now in losses box. Inscribed - Lace Box 17th c. Hinges renewed. Verso 180/- (label inside) 1700 - 1800
