Summary
Wet drug jar, one of two, (NT 540417), earthenware with tin-glaze (maiolica), of baluster shape fitted with a spout and handle, probably the workshop of Maestro Domenico, Venice, Italy, c.1575; painted with a bust portrait of a male wearing a helmet and another wearing a turban, each in a circular reserve beneath the handle and spout, against a blue ground of scrolling polychrome fruit and flowers.
