Summary
Oil painting on panel, Colonel Sir James Croft (d.1659), Dutch School in the manner of Michiel Jansz. van Miereveldt (Delft 1567 – Delft 1641), circa 1620/30. A head-and-shoulders portrait, turned to the right, looking out, wearing armour with fulling ruiff and ornamented orange sash over shoulder. James Croft must - from the sash - have been a soldier in one of the English regiments in Dutch service.
