Summary
Oil painting on canvas, The Reverend William Lucy (1673/4 -1723) by Jonathan Richardson the elder (London 1665 – London 1745), 1723. A three-quarter-length portrait of the Reverend William Lucy, he is seated to right and wearing clerical dress and a long powdered wig. His gloved left hand is placed on a stick and a hat and glove are held in his right hand. Framed in a large carved giltwood frame.
Provenance
Presented to the National Trust by Sir Montgomerie Fairfax-Lucy (1896 – 1965), two years after the death of his father, Sir Henry Ramsay-Fairfax, 3rd Bt (1870 – 1944), with Charlecote Park and its chief contents, in 1946.
