A large brown long-eared owl on branch on the right being mobbed by a groupf of small birdswho surround and screech at the owl from other branches of the same oak tree. Brass plate below frame 'Tobias Stranover 1684-1724 and verse 'Minerva's bird on wisdom ever bent, Is mocked by those on lighter thoughts intent, The ruffled sage his anger clearly shows, At those who gently flit beneath his nose.
