Summary
A mahogany adjustable reading table or stand, English, circa 1760 The hinged top with a racket support to the underside and an adjustable book rest to the top with eight different height positions, the edge carved with a repeating flower head rosettes. The turned column carved with conforming rosettes and raised on three down swept legs carved to the knees with acanthus and floral designs, the pad feet also carved with a scroll cartouche and acanthus leaves.

Purchased from Barber & Son, Windsor 23 May 1934 for £8.10 Bequeathed to the National Trust by Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966) with the house and the rest of the contents.
