Summary
A large cherry, ash and elm high-back bacon settle, English, circa 1780. Of curved outline, the back with ten vertical panels and open scrolling arms at each end of the plank seat, three drawers beneath the seat with brass handles, at the back a cupboard enclosed by a pair of doors, shelves within. Shown in the Country Life photograph of the Kitchen in 1906 (511941.2.24).
