Summary
Oil painting on oak panel, King Henri II, King of France (1519–1559) on Horseback by François Clouet (Tours c.1516 - Paris 1572) and Studio. A full-length portrait of the king, bareheaded, in profile, mounted on a black horse, rides to the left; he wears black armour damascened with silver and carries a gilt mace in his hand; the harness of the horse is white with gold braiding and studs, and white and green ostrich feathers adorn itspoll; to the left, part of a building or gateway is visible; low horizon. Companion picture to Upton House no.180.
