Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Sir Henry Hobart, 1st Bt. (d.1625) by Daniel Mytens the elder (Delft c.1590 – The Hague 1648), 1624 Three-quarter-length portrait of the builder of Blickling, in his robes as Lord Chief Justice of the Common Pleas. Crimson and ermine robes, black belt, lace and gilt cap and lace ruff. Gilt chain of office. Ring on left hand. One of Mytens's most sensitive portraits.
Provenance
Part of the Lothian Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust by Philip, 11th Marquess of Lothian (1882-1940)
