Oil painting on canvas, Lieutenant-General Sir Reginald Pole-Carew, KCB, CVO, MP (1849 - 1924) by Gabriel Emile Edouard Nicolet (Pons 1856 - Villefranche-sur-Mer 1921), signed and dated lower left: G. Nicolet 1904. The sitter was the son of William Henry Pole-Carew and Frances Anne Buller. He married Beatrice Frances Elizabeth Butler, daughter of James Edward William Theobald Butler, 3rd Marquess of Ormonde and Lady Elizabeth Harriet Grosvenor, on 19 February 1901. Their children were: Sir John Gawen Carew Pole, 12th Bt (1902-1993), Marye Frances Pole-Carew (b.1903), Victoria Geraldine Pole-Carew (b.1904) and Patrick William Butler Pole-Carew (1913-1971).
