On free endpaper in ink: The penal laws 1688 followed by a list of Acts from the reigns of Elizabeth I, James I & Charles I. In ink on pastedown: Read in March 1686. Provenance: Inscription in ink: Tho: & Isabella Hervey [i.e. Sir Thomas Hervey (1625-1694) and his wife Isabella (1625-1686)] with inscription above: Isabella Hervey. Provenance: Large armorial bookplate: The Right Honble. John Lord Hervey Created Baron of Ickworth ... 1702. [i.e. John Hervey, later 1st Earl of Bristol (1665-1751)]. Binding: Full seventeenth-century mottled leather, sewn onto three raised bands, double gilt fillet to form border, triple gilt fillet to form panel, gilt tooled board edges, brown spine label.

Part of the Bristol Collection. The house and contents were acquired through the National Land Fund and transferred to the National Trust in 1956
