Provenance: the author's armorial bookplate, lettered 'Had. Beverlandi' and with motto 'Generoso sanguine parta' [i.e. Hadriaan Beverland (1650-1716)]. Library of Sir Richard Ellys (1682-1742) of Nocton, Lincolnshire. Manuscript initial on front fly-leaf: "M." [i.e. catalogue code of John Mitchell (ca. 1685-1751), librarian to Sir Richard Ellys]. Two manuscript inscriptions written by Michael Maittaire (1667-1747) on front fly-leaf, dated 1737 and 1738, attesting that that this manuscript was written by Beverland. Binding: seventeenth-century full brown goatskin; sewn on six supports; double gilt fillet border, double and single gilt fillet panel with gilt floral tool at the corners; gilt roll pattern on board edges; double gilt fillet panels on spine; 'IACOB BINCK' lettered directly in gilt onto spine; gilt edges; comb pattern marbled pastedowns.
