Summary
Pencil and watercolour on paper, The Reverend Henry Robert Crewe (1801 – 1865) by Octavius Oakley (Bermondsey 1800 – London 1867). Henry stands wearing a blue cut away coat and grey trousers with a landscape behind. The inscription on the back reads; 'Henry Robert Harpur Crewe, 2nd son of Sir Henry Harpur Bart of Calke Abbey Derbyshire afterwards Rector of Breadsall W. Derby.' (Inventory card) Second son of Sir Henry Harpur, 7th Baronet. He became Rector of Breadsall in Derbyshire. (House Guide, last revised 1996). In a giltwood gesso frame, moulded with small floral sprays, scroll and shell design in the corners.
