Summary
Painting. An oil painting on canvas, of a standing three-quarter-length portrait of Lady Rachel Cavendish, Lady Morgan (1697-1780), dressed as a Shepherdess by Enoch Seeman the younger (Gdańsk c1694 – London 1744), previously attributed to Thomas Hudson (Devonshire 1701 – Twickenham 1779), c1725/30. She holds a crook in her left hand and some flowers in her right, wearing a white satin dress, trimmed with blue ribbon.
Provenance
Part of the collection on loan to the National Trust from Newport Museum and Galleries. In March 2012 the National Trust took over the management of Tredegar House with its contents and its 90 acres of gardens and parkland, from Newport City Council for a period of 50 years.
