Summary
Oil painting on canvas, An Unknown Lady, possibly Miss Woodley, later Mrs Henry Vaughan by William Hogarth (London 1697 - London 1764), circa 1738. A nearly three-quarter-length portrait, turned to the right, facing, wearing a white satin and lace frilled decollete bolero, drawing on the glove other right hand.

Possibly Benjamin West; H. R. Willett, his sale, 10th July 1869, lot 55; probably Baron Lionel de Rothschild but not included in his 1844 Paris catalogue; Leopold de Rothschild in 1913; thence by descent to Anthony de Rothschild (1887- 1961) by whom given to the National Trust with the house in 1949
