Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Italian Landscape with a House, Gate, Tower and Distant Hills by Richard Wilson, RA (Penegoes 1714 – Mold 1782). Before becoming one of the founder members of the Royal Academy in 1768 welsh-born Wilson spent the 1750s in Italy and started painting landscapes around Rome under the influence of Claude. This is a typical italianate view with cypress trees, buildings to right and four figures in foreground.

accepted by HM Government in lieu of Inheritance Tax and allocated to the National Trust in 2017
