Summary
Ice pail. One of three ice pails with gilded ramshead handles, part of a Minton dessert service of 47 pieces in white and turquoise porcelain, with puce painted bands and gilding. The borders have oblong reserves of peacetime trophies and profile heads 'en grisaille' in imitation of cameos. The centres are painted with ornithological groups. The decoration is derived from the cameo service supplied by Sevres to Catherine the Great of Russia.
