Pencils, a basic artists tool that can result in the most detailed of sketches. Made from graphite varying in hardness. An artist could use a range from the softer 6B through mid point HB up to a harder 6H and beyond. These different ranges would allow for a variety of lines from thicker darker tones to lighter more precise marks.
