Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Young Woman with Roses ('Spring'), by Philippe Mercier (Berlin 1689 – London 1760). Monogrammed. Half-length portrait of a woman turned ato the right, glancing downwards, wearing a white bonnet and a black fichu, making up a buttonhole from a basket of roses, landscape background. Engraved by R. Purcell after 1755 as one of a set of the four seasons.
Provenance
Part of the Windham Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust in 1969 by Robert Wyndham Ketton-Cremer (1906-1969)
