Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Italian Harbour Scene on a Misty Morning, after Claude-Joseph Vernet (Avignon 1714 – Paris 1789). Fishermen in foreground with a tower and cliffs behind at right. Several vessels are visible in the distant haze. Vernet worked in Rome from 1734 to 1753, and it is possible that William Windham II acquired it there.
Provenance
Part of the Windham Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust in 1969 by Robert Wyndham Ketton-Cremer (1906-1969)
