Summary
A print; etching, of Abraham leading Isaac to Sacrifice, by Thomas Worlidge (Peterborough 1700 - London 1766) 1752. Abraham leads Isaac towards the altar to right of picture, while pointing with his left hand to Heaven. Abraham's right arm rests on Isaac's shoulders. Isaac carries wood and points with his left hand towards the altar. The frame is black with a gilt border, and the picture is glazed. It matches D/15. These are characteristic examples of Rembrandt imitations by this interesting amateur painter and etcher.
Provenance
Part of the Windham Collection. The hall and contents were bequeathed to the National Trust in 1969 by Robert Wyndham Ketton-Cremer (1906-1969).
