Summary
Evening coat, black panne velvet probably constructed from five main pieces full-length coat with long sleeves gathered into puff at shoulders. Sleeve ends cut at an angle to come to a point over wrist. Fastens with two self fabric loops and large covered buttons. Sharp triangular collar machine quilted to emphasise shape has been hand-stitched on top of the original narrow collar. Possibly early-mid 1930s updated late 1930s. Lined throughout with rayon crepe de chine. Label; 'D.H.Evans London W.I' and 'This material treated by special patented process will not crush with reasonable wear'
