Summary
Dress; Open robe - Flesh pink silk tissue with pink satin stripes alternating with brocaded flower sprays and meanders in orange, yellows and greens. Bodice and sleeves lined with bleached linen. Hem faced with fine cream silk. Bodice edge to edge front opening. Low scoop neck. Centre back cut in one with skirt - sewn down onto lining in pleats tapering towards waist. Narrow sleeves, shaped round elbow. Skirt knife-pleated all round, the pleats facing towards the side. Longer at back. 2 pocket slits. Pink silk fly braid along lower edge of bodice front. Evidence of pinning on bodice. Very pieced. Possibly made from an earlier dress. Skirt pleats held in place with line of gauging inside. (female)
