Summary
Dress; Open robe - Silk taffeta with cream ground damasked with small flower sprigs. Brocaded with multicoloured flower sprays. bodicee and sleeves lined with unbleached linen. bodicee closed front, square neckline, side seam for centre back seam with 2 pleats each side, sewn down to waist, tapering, continuing into skirt. Fabric carefully matched in the back. Sleeves straight, pieced, elbow length, edge dipped at back. Skirt 5 widths, cut with centre back, the rest closely pleated to bodicee, stay stitched. 2 pocket slits. Part of front section missing. 2 buttons and cord at side back waist for polonaise. Linen pocket inside back waist. Chevron pleated cream silk trim round neck edge - missing from sleeve edge. Evidence of pinning on centre front bodice. Made from an earlier silk. bodicee, back and front and sleeves pieced.
