Charles Paget Wade notebook entry number 371 (1340945.3 / SNO.MISC.959.3): 'Suit of Armour Iron Helmet of 60 plates. medium size neck guard of gold lacquer braided blue. small wings with blazon of TODO. Mark. Body of ‘Comb’ lacquer (sketch of detail here) of gold. braided with coral red, cream & soft green the Tassels of the same edged with fringe of Bears fur Sleeves of gold brocade under mail & plates. Blazon in gold Top of Breastplate. (sketch of detail here) Shoulder guards large, of Comb lacquer, braided cream & coral. leg pieces plate & chain – apron of small lacquer plaques. Bear fur shoes. NAGINATA (Halberd) A long spear upper part covered with fish skin (sketch of detail here) between bands of black lacquer. A short sword with black & gold lacquered sheath. fr.London.'

Purchased by Charles Paget Wade on the 8th June 1942 from Liberty and Co., Regent Street, London (paid £20 for 3 suits). Given to the National Trust with Snowshill Manor in 1951 by Charles Paget Wade.
