Summary
Piece of Gibeon Meteorite from Windhoek Namibia. Collected by Maurice 4th Lord Egerton in September 1935. The original meteor body thought to be 4 billion years old and to have been 4m square, fragmented on entry to earths atmposhere and pieces have been found over a wide area of central Namibia. There are over 120 recorded samples. Thought to have come from an exploding super nova. Iron alloy or Octahedrite meteor. Landed about 200-220 million years ago. Part of Lord Egerton's ethnographic collection once displayed in the Tenants' Hall
