Summary
Oil painting on panel, Henry I Bankes, MP (1698-1776) by Richard Roper (c.1730 – c.1775), inscribed on reverse of original canvas: Henry Bankes Esqr by Roper 1764. A half-length portrait of a man, with wig, in brown coat and waistcoat with large buttons, lace-collared shirt facing, slightly turned to his left and pointing with his right index figure.

By descent, until bequeathed by (Henry John) Ralph Bankes (1902 – 1981) to the National Trust, together with the estates of Corfe Castle and Kingston Lacy and its entire contents in 1981
