Full description
Harcourt Butler was a frequent guest of Margaret Greville's at Polesden Lacey. She also visited him when he was Governor of Burma, a photograph of this event is in the collection: 1246707 Sir Spencer Harcourt Butler was born 1 August 1869and he married Florence Nelson Wright. Sir Spencer joined the Indian Civil Service in 1890. During his career he held the posts of first Governor of United Provinces of Agra and Oudh (now Utter Pradesh, India) and Lieutenant Governor of British Crown Colony of Burma.
