Summary
One of sixteen Restoration Record Books created by Sheila Pettit, former Historic Buildings Representative for the National Trust. A scrapbook with paper cover with the William Morris “Trellis” design and purple pages. A scrapbook which includes details of the redecoration of the house, organised by room and by phase of restoration. Phase one: 1978 (rooms: Entrance Passage and Alcove Room, Study, Japanese Room, Library, Dining Room, Butler’s Changing Room and Boudoir. Phase 2: 1978-79 (Boudoir), phase 3: 1979 (Yellow, White, Red, Brown and Bamboo Bedrooms, Playroom, Billiard Room, Gun Room and Passage, Carpets, Curtains and Covers, leather chairs, etc.), phase 4: 1980 (Owl Bedrooms, Kitchen, Scullery, Butler’s Pantry, Bee Room, Linen Rooms, Boudoir, Gallery, Watercolour Gallery, Drawing Room and Billiard Room). Details included are timesheets of time spent on restoration work, notes by Sheila Pettit of difficulties encountered, paper locations and other details, firms who carried out the work and details of redecoration.
