Oil painting on canvas, An Unknown Young Man, British (English) School, 18th century. A half-length portrait of a man, seated, turned to the right, gazing at the spectator, his head slightly inclined to the right. He wears a brown coat and waistcoat with a white stock, and is seated in a bamboo chair, holding an open book or ledger.

Armstrong collection. Transferred by the Treasury to The National Trust in 1977 via the National Land Fund, aided by 3rd Baron Armstrong of Bamburgh and Cragside (1919 - 1987).
