Summary
A walnut cabinet-on-stand, Italian, 18th century, the cabinet with a rectangular top above a pair of cabinet door, each door with a crossbanded border and veneered lozenge outline to the centre, a shaped brass lockplate to each door, the cabinet doors opening to reveal twenty variously shaped drawers, each paneled drawer front with a unique carved decorative scheme including dolphins, green man masks, cherubs, putti, hippocampi, eagles etc. The stand with projecting moulded rim above a plain frieze containing two slides, each slide with a small brass pull handle, on five spiral-carved legs with turned sections to the top and bottom, the legs joined by a rectangle of flat stretchers, the legs terminating in bun feet. The underside applied with a white round label with handwriting reading '234'.
